Scary New Car Features
Original Publish Date - September 2009

Cars.com released its 2009 list of scariest new car features. Topping the list are:

• Car seats that alter their shape to hold the driver securely in place during awkward driving maneuvers.

• Volvo’s heart monitor that detects the pulse of a potential carjacker hiding in the back seat. This made the list for its paranoia factor.

• Navigation systems that mispronounce road and city names.

• BMW’s iDrive, the infamous rotating knob that controls most major functions but has no shortcuts for easier use.

• Self-parking cars—drivers who can’t park their own cars shouldn’t be driving.

According to cars.com, these modern features are often more of a hindrance than a help to driver safety.
