Poor Road Conditions Cost $217 Billion Annually

The Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation recently conducted a study on the costly effects of poor roadway conditions. According to the findings, insufficiently maintained roads are a factor in 52.7 percent of crash-related deaths and 38 percent of nonfatal crashes. These crashes cost the U.S. economy about $217 billion per year in expenses, such as medical and insurance costs, loss of productivity and property damage.
