Keeping Abreast of Safety Recalls
Original Publish Date - February 2009

A new service from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) notifies consumers of safety recalls on their vehicles, a priority since there are 600 new recalls every year. “When it comes down to it, ignoring a recall means ignoring a safety defect that could put you and your family at risk,” says U.S. DOT Secretary Mary E. Peters.

Vehicle owners can sign up to receive the alerts to their email accounts, cell phones or wireless devices free-of-charge by visiting www.safercar.gov and selecting the “Email recall notifications” option.
